| Should we cull John Wilson Instead? Reading vagabonds reply to the cormarant cull debate should we instead be culling angling demigods instead for stirring up trouble? |

| Re: Should we cull John Wilson Instead? I think the papers must take some blame for running an inflamatory headline/story, I know its a big issue, but with pressure from antis, surely they should publish rational debate?? __________________ Ignore the margins at your peril |

Great reply from Vagabond in the other thread. It's a wonder there are any fish left because the AT etc have been talking about the decimation of fish stocks for years. Maybe there is a problem, maybe there isn't. What we (as anglers) need is proper facts and figures and proper research. Without that we've got nothing. As has been noted there are licences available to cull cormorants anyway. So it's not as if nothing can be done if there is a problem. We do have to careful. Some people (like Martin Bowler) want 'us' to kick up a stink and protest etc but it's only going to do us more harm than good if we don't have proper science etc to back up the rhetoric. Let's face it, the general public would sooner ban fishing than implement an otter cull. Of course we have to support our sport and protect our fishing and livelihoods but there are good and bad ways of going about it. |

| Re: Should we cull John Wilson Instead? Martin Bowler calls John Wilson Uncle! They are not blood relations but john took martin under his wing when martin was a boy. He might be under his uncle's influence on this one. Its a bit like maggie thatcher asking mark thatcher to call for a poll tax! |
