Re: Sink & draw method ?

Hi

I used to use this method a lot a few years ago on the Forty Foot drain, I prefer to use fresh water baits, Perch seem to last longer on the hook but I prefer to use Roach/Rudd

Hook the second treble in the lip and the first one along the flank or the into the area below the dorsal fin, this way the bait will be retrieved in a more natural way

Some anglers put a bend in the fish while hooking the bait up but I prefer to keep it as straight as possible and work the bait to entice a take

lifting the rod and letting the bait flutter down then a couple of turns of the reel and repeat the process, a few sharp jerks of the rod can also add a bit of variety to the retrieve

experiment with the depth and retrieve but a slow retrieve is normally best, you are trying to imitate a injured/dying fish

good luck, let us know how you get on

Darrell

Thumbs up Re: Sink & draw method ?

thanks for the advice,i will be trying this method at rudyard lake which is around 2 miles long, and goes to around 30ft deep at the dam end.the main problem you have is trying to locate the fish.with the sink and draw method i can hopefully cover more ground.i will keep you informed how i get on.

Re: Sink & draw method ?

one thing I forgot to mention, when you get a take, open the bail arm and give the pike a few seconds to take the bait (only a few seconds though) before you strike

Good Luck
