Re: Conservation?

If you hear the word conservation from a politician it usually means a restriction followed by a tax. If it comes from the Environment Agency, it just means a restriction, that will soon be followed by a tax. If it comes from Brussells, it means we will stop you doing it, even though we have no idea why, but we may let you do it again at some point in the future, as long as we have worked out a way to tax you in the meantime

Re: Conservation?

Depends. If it's from a council it means they are going to ban fishing completely. If it's from someone like David Bellamy thenI totally welcome it as he is at least informed about what great work we already do and knows the best people to protect fish are the mad bu@@ers who get up at all hours and in all weathers. Don't see many tree huggers when it's - 7 do you?

Re: Conservation?

What if it was just for freshwater fish? Not from the government or from the EA. To help fish species and/or the fish's environment?

Re: Conservation?

fish conservation....this covers a broad spectrum ..there is little doubt that the human impact in our seas has depleted stocks tenfold well overfished, due to more sophisticated fishing equipment(commercial) changes to eco systems in the sea and physical damage to the environment trawling the sea bed damage to coral reefs oil pollution dumpage of sewage out to sea ,litter and discarded rubbish and even long term global warming spurred on by us has a knock on effect.. In our river networks humans too are guilty for destruction and breakdown of valuble ecosystems pollution run off from farm lands pesticides insecticides, sewage and farm effluent, industrial wastes, rain falling through polluted air falls as acid rain altering the ph of water and so on the list is endless..no i aint a tree hugger either lol.... but i do value fish and environment conservation in threatening conditions for those of us that do care about fish stocks and environments there are sadly many that couldnt give two hoots personally i would welcome any scheme long or short term to improve our waterways and avoid potential catastrophies.......

Re: Conservation?

I know the government and the governmental and non-governmental bodies go on about sea fish conservation. But hardly no one talks about freshwater fish conservation unless its salmon.
