Re: what do you love and dislike about fishing

Smelly hands can be dealt with swarfega, simply wash as you would with soap, then rinse with water, if your concerned about the smell of swarfega tainting your bait, I carry some of the richworth sprays, which can be rubbed onto palms after use.
Back to what i enjoy, being in the environment, when fishing, due to its nature, you become a part of the environment, sometimes for only a short spell, sometimes for a few days. Catching a decent fish, exploring new waters.

Amongst the dislikes its litter, loud/loutish behaviour/mis use of bite alarms, hoarseflies/mossies etc

Re: what do you love and dislike about fishing

I like dawn at the lake. Sitting on the bank, and not having to make conversation if I dont want to. Sunset at the lake. The feel of a bite, thrill of the catch, enjoying the sights and smells of nature, watching my son catch a fish (which is often bigger than mine!). Midday at the lake. The anticipation the night before you go fishing.

Dislike, having to pack up and go home at the end of a days fishing. The bloomin snow/ice/torrential rain which means I have to cancel numerous days a year. Litter. Know it alls. The possibility of fish decimation with otters, cormorants, and the culinary habits of Eastern Europeans.

Love

Catching fish. (Obviously)
Time on the beach with me mates.
Time out of the house, not getting nagged.
Watching the sun come up over a mill pond sea.
Watching the sun go down over a mill pond sea.
Looking down over all of Chesil on a sunny day.
Watching the mackie boil on the surface and wondering what's underneath them.
Relaxing with a beer on the beach.
The crazy half hour of non stop smuts.
The screaming reel of a good Bass on me spinning rod.
The screaming reel of a well executed cast (Well bowled Shane!)
Meeting people with the same sort of passion, those who understand.
Occasionally moving to the dark side and fishing with lead.

Dislikes.

Crack offs.
Birdies.
Getting to the beach and having to tie a leader.
My bait freezer turning itself off.
Scratching around in Jan/Feb.
Ice forming on my reels.
Fishing 100 yards away from the prime position (Which was free when you turned up!)
Missing a comp because of work.
Taking a support call whilst trying to cast.

Dislikes:- Blustery winds that make for dificult casting.
People walking their dogs on the bank and leave dog mess when their are a million other acres they could let their dog foul .
anglers with mobile phones.
Likes:- Having a great conversation with a fellow angler after a good sesion.
Not so often but, fishing at dawn in summer.
A bit nambi pambi i know, but i like it when the duckling have hatched and their out on the water with mum and they come up to you for a nosie and try to run off with your floating line lol.

Re: what do you love and dislike about fishing

It is said that fish are the only food that man truly goes out to hunt. Thats what I love. beach or bank. its the hunt for that monster you know is lurking in there but is always one step ahead. Hates Line on the bank/beach litter, noisy little /////// that should know better and the humble pretty boy on a jet ski
