Day Tickets with a chance of Barbel on Hants Avon????

Can anyone reccemend a day ticket stretch of the Hants avon, where there is a chance of a barbel? I know hte Royalty, but was wondering of there is somewhere upstream, as in not so far from home.
Any suggestions?

Re: Day Tickets with a chance of Barbel on Hants Avon????

Not sure where you are but Britford by Salisbury is supposed to be a good winter venue but there aren't many barbel. Better for roach, chub etc.

Lifelands fishery at Ringwood would probably be more chance of a barbel but it's difficult. Not many Avon day tickets unfortunately. There's Winkton which is much quieter than the Royalty but, again, it's not easy. Bisterne estate is open August and September and the last month or so of the season. Big stretch of river, classic Avon. Again, not easy but a nice place to blank!

Wink Re: Day Tickets with a chance of Barbel on Hants Avon????

If you can wait a week or 3 the bisterne stretch between Christchurch & Ringwood will be reopened it only opens for about 8-10 weeks every year (february to march & end of september till I think November but could be wrong) & i've fished it once now. Lovely stretch of the river but dont expect to pull out stacks of barbel from what i've seen they only come out of the areas that people fish for them & not all over the fishery. As stated theres the winkton stretch which in my opinion is very hard. Also theres tickets available from Ringwood angling I believe for the lifelands fishery. Hope this is some help?Send me a pm if you want more info & i'll find out for you

Rob.

p.s does anyone know anything about the river above Salisbury?is it all owned by Salisbury A.C or are there day ticket stretches?
