Re: trout fishing Hi, I think that you're asking actually for two rods! I fish for trout a lot and the best I can recommend is 7' light "Ugly Stick" with a 6 ball bearing reel "Small Spool". The reason for small spool being: It is easy to change line often and relatively inexpensive. I use 6 lb mono with 4 or 6 lb fluorocarbon leaders. I also love float fishing for trout. You may want to visit my site: www.trout-floats.com “The Small Salmon"? I'm afraid that unless you fish for Kokonee Only, there are no small salmon! You may get the odd Jack here and there. However, most of the salmon will come in the 8 - 50 lb range. So be prepared. Here I would suggest a longer rod. The 8 to 10 foot rod is good choices. I hated the Ugly Sticks a long time ago just for the name. But now I see it everywhere and got a couple myself. They are awesome strong rods with 5year warranties! The only thing to consider here is a good reel. You may like spinner as the “Level wind” maybe to complicated for a beginner. If you don’t target the “Long Line Pullers” like a Steelhead, smaller or medium size reels are generally fine. Think about changing line often and don’t buy a huge reel! It can be costly to replace lines later. Buy a good fluorocarbon leader material and use Chemically Sharpened hooks for salmon species. Stay a way from braded lines for now as they can be tricky and hard for you to set the hooks. Hope this helps a bit. MrGrey1.

Re: trout fishing hi mate it all depends on what type of spinner u want to use i would suggest a 8ft rod that has a 10 -30 gram rating this will be fine for small vibrax and mepps spinners for trout and will cast flyin cs,tobys etc in most situations however if the river u fish is in spate u might have to go bit heavier say a rod that will cast 50-60 grams i would use 6ib line for the trout and 12ib for the salmon.have a look here www.garryevans.co.uk i bought a 10 foot 30-45gram greys grxi at the start of the season and cant fault it ![]()

Re: trout fishing If you are fishing for trout i take thats wild trout and salmon/grilse you will need a rod licence and permission to fish waters with this type of fishing- find out fees 1st then buy rod. Salmon beats are not cheap. Ask local anglers in the summertime for advice. The gear is the easy part. Hope this helps. ![]() ![]()
