pole float through finger anybody read the article in anglers mail this week where a guy was trying to get his rig back from being snagged in a bush and his pole float went all the way through his finger __________________ Our Fish of 2009 http://www.youtube.com/user/WaterLic.../0/QGNc8OLZ6V8 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ our fish of 2009

Re: pole float through finger A warning to us all. Nearly done similar things SO many times. Scariest was probably being hit in the face by a bomb that shot free. If I didn't wear glasses I think I might well have lost an eye. Now I always turn my back on the rig when pulling for a break. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: pole float through finger It was my own stupidity that saw me get a 10/0 right through the pad of my thumb last time on the boat. I had my conger rig set up and the rod clipped against the rail. When we were heading back to port I started to dismantle the rig, but forgot about the 2lb torpedo lead I had stupidly left attached at the other end of the trace that had been resting on the gunwhale. As soon as I picked up the trace the weight slipped overboard and pulled the whole lot through my fingers. Won't be doing that again

Re: pole float through finger That conger trace reminds me of the classic "drop the feeder/bomb, catch the hook " thing that seemed to happen everytime I forgot about it last time it happened. Might be a good time or someone to find that web page with the instructions on pushing a hook right through to cut the barb off rather than try and drag the barb back out again. It's probably the point some anti would say "well you don't like having a hook in you so why shold a fish", no and I don't live at the bottom of a canal eating worms either DOH! __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: pole float through finger Heh, that's what I had to do. Hold on to a 100lb wire trace with a 2lb lead thrashing about while I cut the barb end off and pushed through. Like I said, won't be doing that again I did save the lead and trace though. The hook of course was a write off ;0)
