Anglers becoming lazy! does anybody else think that modern carp anglers are becoming lazy, setting as many rods up on bite indicators as they can. I am not against using bite alarms , but i would also be float fishing as well or surface fishing as i couldnt just sit down and wait without being able to watch a float or something.

Re: Anglers becoming lazy! This is true, but I think its in all walks of life, take sat navs for example. It is a fact about the human mind to make things easier for ourselves though. I have some fun at the 'carpy campers' expense, providing I know them well enough to get away with it. Whilst I have to admit that the amount of dedication some put in is admirable,I have seen some deplorable aspect to that side of the sport. Once, last summer I guy setting up for the night had every thing but the kitchen sink, his banging in bivvy pegs on the bank of a small, pool just put the fish down, the noise from his auto inflate airbed was bad. Can't beat watching a float dip, irony is I have doen better than those with alarms buy watching the water, reading the water.

but when i find myself fishing on a three rod setup on alarms majority of the time ill find my self sneeking a little float or feeder setup somtimes i have more excitement on this rod especially when i had my pb roach of 3.1lb on a sly waggler while employing this extra rod method but saying that i find the simplicity of stalking fish using minimal tackle the best of all fishing |

Re: Anglers becoming lazy! the thing is when i use bite alarms mainly when pike fishing i find myself doing other things making rigs and wire traces reading or taking in the surroundings may be some photos or as some of you have seen from the cat meet sleeping lol Most things have there place and what suits one angler will not suit another

Re: Anglers becoming lazy! I don't think bait alarms make anglers lazy. Plonking your gear in the swim nearest the car and setting up three rods, casting all three as far as you can, then sitting watching tele for three days. That's lazy. Carefully selecting three swims, casting and baiting each and then observing the swim and venue moving where necessary, that's active fishing ragardless of the number of bait alarms. I do think many anglers are just going with the flow at the moment and that anglers who have come in to the sport since commercials became the "norm" haven't gone through the learning process that some of us older gits have (OK what I mean is blanking all the time before anyone else says it). Another danger is that some teams may not be bringing on the younger talent too and this may cost them. There's a reason the Leicester Likely Lads were so bloody good for so long and it is down to nearly all the things I've just said (and not least their work ethic). Learn, fish and nurture. I think things go in cycles though and as long as everyone enjoys themselves and gets something out of it, then let them be lazy. It's their loss. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

i can remember walking almost a mile with over 100lbs of kit on my back to fish a 4 day stint at a remote location in wales, now that was grueling. plus there is a lot of effort that goes into feature finding and spodding. i wouldnt call it lazy, just efficient. __________________ Huge fan of Carp Fishing in France, 24 trips in 3 years.
