| Reel Drag Can someone explain on how i use the drag on my reel. If im correct in thinking if im using 4lb line i would set the drag to 4 and if i wanted to tighten it up move it upwards towards the higher numbers. Very confused lol ![]() |

| Re: Reel Drag I tend to set my reels by giving a gradual pull on the line while setting the drag at the same time. I set it so I can *just* pull it without having to *yank* it if that makes sense. Just a bit of tension is good. If I'm using a baitrunner I set that quite slack as I like carp to run with a bait before I pull into it. Hope this helps. |

| Re: Reel Drag my reel is just for general float fishing, its not a baitrunner. I will give it a go tommorow ![]() |

| I dont tend to use the numbers on the back of the reel mastic favouring instead to thread the line onto the rod & holding the rod whilst pulling the line with a constant pressure rather than just tugging @ it then setting the clutch on the back so that the reel just gives line when a fish takes instead of snapping the line & possibly breaking your rod. Bear in mind every rod is different & has a different test curve so set the reel to compliment the rod if that makes sense....no good setting the reel to just take line if the rod snaps before it gets to that point if that makes sense???....
