My mate did that once with a size 12 barbed & I had to use a pair of cutters & cut the hook off on the shank & pull the hook back round the bend before it came out. Trebles must be a nightmare eeewwww....

I once had a set of trebles (barbed) from a salmon tube fly into my hand. Tied some strong braid round the bend that was showing, took a few deep breaths and gritted my teeth, yanked the hooks out backwards. Bloody well hurt!

We carry a first aid kit in the van, so flooded the wound with Savlon, bound it up, carried on fishing. Well, it was a very expensive salmon beat, and I didn't want to waste time going to hospital.

It has made me extra careful around trebles ever since.

I've done the "Advance and cut"method on a boat.Had a rolling lead on the engine cover when the boat rolled.I was baiting up at the time.The skipper did it.

Had a size 2/0 in my left thumb once. Went to local hospital, they X Rayed it, nearly numbed it and pushed it straight through and out the other side of my thumb!!!!!
If you're ever in Kings Lynn accident and emergency take a look at the ceiling........you can still see my teeth marks!!!!!
