Weight of my kit My kit seams to get heavyer for each session i do (i keep buying new kit lol). Was intrested in how heavy it was so after sorting my kit out for tomorrow i had my scales handy so weighed it. Rod bag with rods, reels, bank sticks, umbrella and landing nets came to fifteen pounds. Unhooking mate and chair came to fifteen pounds Ruck sack with some bait and tackle was fourteen pounds Weighing sling with bait in (dog mixer pellets and boilies) + food and drink was twentey pounds Think i must start to leave stuff i dont use at home and limit what i take no wounder its a hard walk to some lakes think ill have to get a wheel barrow or hide some of my kit in my brothers bag when he aint loocking. Its great fun geting my kit and my brothers in a saxo without useing the boot my rod bag touches the windscreen and sits on the dash and other ends nearly touching the rear window

Re: Weight of my kit I don't understand the amount of kit some people take. All I have is a single rod bag which holds my rod , landing net , handle , rod rest and reel and a smallish rucksack/satchel to carry my tackle box , bait and a bottle of water , maybe a few sandwiches. The whole lot weighs next to nothing and I have never wanted for anything while I'm out and about on 6-8 hour plus sessions. Fair enough the majority of my fishing involves stalking several swims throughout the day , but 5 rods ? In my opinion taking bivvis , stoves , recliner chairs , mini TV's , radios , spare clothes and all the other commodities take the fun and unpredictability out of fishing. For me half the fun is not knowing whether or not i'm going to get soaked or slip down the bank. I prefer to be in direct contact with nature , not slobbing out on an £80.00 chair in a £400 tent , surrounded by junk I don't need with a cup of tea in one hand and a fag in the other , waiting for a buzzer to sound. If I wanted to do that I would stay at home and listen out for the microwave.

Re: Weight of my kit you ought to try carrying 2 rods, beach buddie, tripod, ruck sack with headlamp plus battery that weighs about 3lb 5lb of lead weights tackle reels clothing plus food and a bucket with bait in. then have to walk about 2-3 miles along a shingle bank. we all have to carry gear what ever type of fishing we do.
