Line-how much

How much line do i need to fill a new reel. Im looking at some Maxima 4lb line in 100mtr spools. How many do i need to get so it flows smoothly over the lip of the reel.

Re: Line-how much

Thats the line capacity mate in other words it'll take 215 yards of 8lb line or 415 yards of 4lb double it up if your using 4lb line i'd say it'll take about 380 metres roughly...

Re: Line-how much

Use some chunky old line as backing till you've 1/2 filled the spool then use the line you've just bought

Re: Line-how much

You would have been better off buying a bulk spool (1000mtr) of line rather than individual 100mtr spools. It would have been cheaper as well.
I filled two deep spools with mine and I still have enough line to refill them again in a few months.

The advantages of buying a bulk spool are:
1. Cheaper: (1000mtrs cost approx the same as 3 x 100mtr spools)
2. No knots in the line (knots not only reduce casting distance but are weaknesses in the line)
3. No worrying about whether you have enough line to fill your spools
