Re: Line-how much Jay I tend to stick with what I know on line, its quite a major part of your tackle to go wrong & if the line gives out you'll just end up kicking yourself for buying cheap or worse still it tangles like a son of a b*tch & is unuseable. Pay reasonable money for it would be my advice, from my experience you'll do far worse than to use drennan lines. I use drennan float fish on my float rod never let me down. Specimen + I think it is on my feeder reel (I really like this line) & on my carp reels I like to use berkeley big game but thats just a personal preference everyones different. Dont scrimp unless you want to lose fish mate.... Rob. __________________ So many types of fishing ... so little free time...

Re: Line-how much Either fill the spool with bulk line or use this old trick. Only works if you have a spare spool the same size as the one you are filling. her goes - put the 100m of line on to the new spool then NEATLY attach the backing line (older or cheap line) and fill the spool to the required level. Now obviously you have the backing line on the outside and the line you want on the inside . So you now get the spool you want to fill and wind the line off the spool you just filled and it is now at a perfect level on the spool . This came after years of guessing, filling and getting it wrong. Of course this will only really work if you have a spare spool. If not then it's guess time. Have fun. I certainly wouldn't be filling my reels using multiple 100m spools and it is better to buy 100m of good line and back it up with cheaper stuff than buy bulk spools of cheap line. Also make sure that if you do use a cheaper backing line that you cover the knot neatly in whatever fashion you prefer. I like to tie a loop and attach the backing to the good line then use w wind or two of insulating tape to completely smooth over the join. Be careful you do not get "gunge" all over he spool lip though. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: Line-how much I would have to agree with Luke, I use sensor for 90% of my fishing and for 4lb line you get over 3090m of line for around £7.00 a spool, so you can do more than one spool. one more thing when storing your un-used line keep it in a dark place as the light can slowly weaken the line. __________________ Born to fish made to work Last edited by Banana Steve; 09-26-2009 at 07:26 AM.

Re: Line-how much Yep Diawa Sensor by the mile here too. I keep mine in a thick black nylon bag I from a golf practise net then put this in a cardboard box in the garage. Kepp it away from UV and it will last OK. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk
