Any good books on fishing?....

Just bought a quest for barbel,bought a copy for a friend a year or too ago & have wanted a copy since then, anybody got any of good books they've read to recommend?

the 2 books i read the most are " the deepening pool " by chris yates
and " the doomsday book of mammoth pike " by fred buller, both superb reading

Paul if you liked the deepening pool try 'how to fish' must of read it about 4-5 times, great read

Confessions of a Carp Fisher by "BB"

Classic. Very atmospheric. Really takes you back to a different world when a 10lb carp was a fish of a lifetime.

Also, Chris Yate's Casting at the Sun and the Secret Carp. Anything by Chris Yates basically!

The book that accompanied A Passion for Angling is great too. Fantastic photos. Interesting to read too.

Rod and Line by Arthur Ransome is pretty good, Chris yates books are worth the effort. So many books are dull technical manuals, the Yate books are more about the philosophy of angling.
