| Legering lakes ? Hi , I have recently had an inkling to try and fish my local lake for carp , bream and tench. I usually like to leger fish on fast flowing waters for chub and barbel so was looking for some tips on lake fishing as I have hardly ever tried it. The few times I have I have drawn complete blanks. Am I right in thinking you can only leger a swim feeder and not use a float with one ? How Do I get the resistance I would normally get on a fast flowing stretch to tighten up and indicate bites on a lake or pond ? Are electronic bite indicators the way to go , or are there other , more involving methods I could employ ? Any advice would be great , including how to use various indicators properly and the best attractants to use with a swim feeder for the species I mentioned. Thanks in advance , Gary. |

| Re: Legering lakes ? Hi gary i have been fishing on rivers all week and its not easy if you have not done it before . I was going for brown trout with red maggots with 3 rigs i would use thru out the day i would start with the float if it is slow moving river and. If later in the day the fish are were i can not get my float i will turn to a small a swim feeder and get a bite alarm out and just rest it on that and just before i go i will have some fun with the ledger not bite alarms just the rod in your hand and the line in you fingers thats how i river fish thru out the year hope it helps. | Re: Legering lakes ? hello what i do is set up a quiver tip on two bank sticks tie a swivel to your main line and attach a flat bed feeder with a six inch leeder and to this tie a size 12 hair rigged hook for the ground bait i use voodoo mix now called karma with hemp, corn, and maggot mixed in and either a boilie or live maggot on the hook ive caught both bream and carp on this method and seems to work well ,the feeder should be heavy enough to put a slight bend in the rod when you reel in the slack and this forms your indication when the tip pulls right round ,let me know how you get on and if you need more info just pm me cheers. |
