| Newbie intro and first of many dumb questions! Hello All, I've done a little sea fishing in my time, but only on organised trips and nothing in-land on my own. However it's something I've always wanted to try my hand at and hopefully get half decent at it. That's why I came home with a rod this weekend (sans reel or any other kit) ... the girlfriend just rolled her eyes at me... Don't blame her - I don't even know what type of rod it is... ![]() I intend to do my homework and read up on what to do and what I need, however as a starter can any of you experienced anglers identify the following numbers which are on the rod, and hopefully tell me what type of fishing it is suitable for (I suppose I'm interested in doing a bit of river and lake/pond fishing). "455g 16oz, 5/8kg 11/17.6lbs, 30-50g 1-1/16-1-3/4 oz" I'm assuming it gives an indication of what line, weights to use etc, but any clearer picture would be much appreciated! Ta! Rich |

| Re: Newbie intro and first of many dumb questions! Hi, Thanks for the reply. It's a Caperlan - I got it from Decathalon on an impulse, think it's their own cheapy brand so intend to learn using this before trading up. It's a two piece screw-together rod about 6ft longish. Rich |
