Is roach a common fish?

Hey, recently i have been fishing in my local lake, and it seems all i seem to be cathing is roach. Is roach a common fish in most lakes, or is it just the lake im fishing in?

Yes roach are a common fish in lakes rivers and canals very easy to catch on maggots. Also perch and skimmer bream are also easy and widley spread.

ahh right i see, I caught a rudd the other day, and they look quite like roach. So some of the roach i caught could have been rudd.
