Re: new equipment yeh a good choice cant really go wrong with shakespear but what i would say is buy a second rod and compare the two see which is best i bought a john wilson rod and fished against my mates shimano and the first thing that struck me was how light my rod was and a lot more responsive and ended up beating him on a little competition of how many fish we cuaght (both had same tackle set up same bait and were fishing less than 2 metres apart so it was as fair as pos)

Re: new equipment yeh the different tips are made for large and small fish when ledgering/or using feeders i think the orange one will be slightly thicker and made for carp/bream where the green one is for roach, rudd, perch ect and the green one is really delicate so if you do catch a big fish hope it doesnt snap on you ,this happened with mine i caught a six lb carp and it gave way after about five minutes losing the fish in the process and ending my session as i had left the other tip at home not happy.

Re: new equipment They shouldnt snap. They will be diffrent rateings in ounces the lower the number the less force needed to move the tip. Use the lighter 1 for still or slow moveing water on carm days and the stiffer tip for fast moveing water and windy days. Keep the rod at a 45ish degree angal to the water.
