Re: Help really struggling

There are lots of different shotting patterns to suit different weather/wind conditions and different bait presentations but the following is one of the most commonly used shotting patterns in waters upto approx 8 or 9ft when using a float rod.
  1. Put a float on that is not too large for the distance being fished (or too small) eg. if you can easily cast a 3BB float to where you are fishing then you dont want to use a 5AAA float as it is a bit over the top.
  2. Place a large shot (or Plummet) on the hook (just above it may damage the hooklength) heavy enough to sink the float.
  3. Cast the float, each time adjusting the depth until the float tip appears above the water. You now have the depth of the swim where you are fishing.
  4. Wind in and hold the hook by the reel and note how many rod rings reach the float base so that if your hooklength got snapped by a fish you would immediately know what depth you had been fishing at prior to the break.
remove the heavy shot (or plummet) from the hook then add 80% to 90% of the shot needed to cock the float at the base of the float and a tiny dust shot (eg. a No8) a few inches from the hook, and the remainng shot just over half way from the float to the hook.
NB. If you want to fish slightly overdepth or just above the bottom then adjust the depth a fraction to suit.

what I mean is,,once you are happy you have got your float at the right depth, measure the depth on the rod,,ie, put the hook in the bottom eye gently tighten up the line, if the float goes the the 5th eye, that is your depth, if you change your float or hook link, you know the depth with out plumbing up again,

Re: Help really struggling

Hi kronos22, I am not certain if this will help but here is a diagram of how I fish the Wagglar

The comments Bold Bear made are worth following as well.

The secret to fishing the Wagglar is to feed little and often.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Regards, Steve
