what lb line to use.

hey guys,

im a bit confused as to waht lb line to use. im feeder fishing and mainly aiming toward small carp and tench as its my first time with a quiver tip. i have a bit of everything in the bait that should get me bites of other fish also (in theory).

at the moment i bought a reel off my mate which has a 15lb line on but im think that might be a bit extreme. would that be ok to use with a smaller hook lengh of about 6 - 8 lb or should i use a lot smaller main line?

any suggestions welcome as i dont want to put fish off with unnessacary lb age of line. please help!

cheers.

Tom.

Re: what lb line to use.

Hi Tom, For small carp on the feeder i use 5lb line normally Diawia Sensor, However 6lb to 8lb should be fine. 15lb great if you are fishing for lumps, but as you said a bit extreme for smaller carp.

Good Luck.

Regards, Steve

Re: what lb line to use.

Hi Tom, 4lb hook length will be fine. However, check the diameter of the main line and if you use a high tech line of lower diameter than the main line you might find that the high tech line as the hooklegth is higher, but as there is little stretch it would go first if the line is to snap.

but as a norm i would go with 4lb line and anything from a size 14 to 20 hook.

Regards, Steve
