Re: Local lakes (wiltshire ish area)

Fish all of them apart from wardour. Wyatts i wouldnt even bother its a sh** hole. The only time i go there is the farmers allows us to shoot rats on the lake that are the size of cats. Lefarge is excellent and for 25quid a year u cant go wrong. If you buy the season ticket for lafarge then you can get an exchange licence for lavington lakes in great cheverill. Probably the nicest lake round here and packed solid with fish. Let me know if you want any advice. Im also going to be down lafarge sat through to sunday if you wanna pop down for a chat. Ill be the one with the large bivvy
cheers
martin

Re: Local lakes (wiltshire ish area)

Went to edneys fisheries with my brother yesterday.
We decided to fish lake 2 not a bad day for me catching 1-2lb common and mirror carp allday with a 7 1/2 lb and a 6lb at the end of my session had a nice ghostie with floating bread that took me into a snag and i lost it. Had a few small roach and 3 nice chub of around a 1lb. Not the best looking lakes. The bins where full up and over flowing alot of fire ash over the place.

shearwater is good fishing,i fish it regular, dont be swayed by the 'experts' over there, the best place to bag 10+ double figured common and mirrors in an HOUR is by the slipway and pontoon, all the visitors feed the ducks there and this atracts the carp for the bread, just get the carp feeding with a few titbits then simply freeline a piece of crust out as far as your rod end and HOLD ON!!!
heres my sons very first fish a nice carpfrom the slipway!:

also worth a visit are the dayticket fishery on the roundabout at nunney catch roundabout near frome the fishery is a gem and theres crucians to 4lb + in there with huge rudd and king carp species.the owner is a top chap by the name of Barry Bowden , heres a map:

not far from Barrys place is the free fishery of the moat of nunney castle, reputed to be the deepest moat in England, its a realy nice place ,offering bags of silvers for a quids worth of maggot!

heres a map:

another is a lake called Turners paddock at the national trusts property of stourhead, the water is run by the gillinghamand district AC,day tickets are a fiver from Mere post office. It is awsome in its athsetic charm it has a waterfall and a now derelict waterwheel, best bags are of bream and Tench from the dam end of the lake.

heres a vid i made there:

and heres the map:

hope this helps, there are a few more but i aint tellin!

Re: Local lakes (wiltshire ish area)

how did it go at crockerton, cuckoo's and longleat?
i have fished shearwater, longleat, edenvale and leech poole...
in my eyes edenvale is not worth the £5 day ticket...you have to pick the right swim and the fishes size arent great...on a nice sunny day with little or no breeze have a walk upto the top end of the lake, nice and really sucluded...get the dogbiscuits out and wait...normally you will get carp taking from the top up there...watch out for the ducks though...

leech poole...very small fish...average i would say would be 1-3pound...you get the ocasional larger carp (6-9) but fish are small...swans take the piss to be honest...this is another surface fishing lake...dog biscuits and bread flake...but once you get the biscuits out it wont be long untill the birds are in your swim, which means you have to reel in...in my opinion definatly not worth the £5 per rod...only + is you can fish dusk till dawn...not 7am to 7pm like many venues...

i hope this has helped...
would like to know how you got on with the lakes i asked about...

tight lines
