Carp Bird is on a distinguished road
Re: Local lakes (wiltshire ish area)

Hi Ben

Have been to Edneys, I think the hundreds of floats festooned all around the lake kind of put us off, we could see the ghost carp, but gave up after a small carp dragged my favourite float into the reeds and I lost it, a great shame, a bit of tidying up and cutting back would make it such a nice place...

Re: Local lakes (wiltshire ish area)

Decided to fish the big lake on the dam wall chosen to fish opposite the water pipe platform to give me a feature to aim for when float fishing.

heres my sons very first fish a nice carpfrom the slipway!:

also worth a visit are the dayticket fishery on the roundabout at nunney catch roundabout near frome the fishery is a gem and theres crucians to 4lb + in there with huge rudd and king carp species.the owner is a top chap by the name of Barry Bowden , heres a map:

not far from Barrys place is the free fishery of the moat of nunney castle, reputed to be the deepest moat in England, its a realy nice place ,offering bags of silvers for a quids worth of maggot!

heres a map:

another is a lake called Turners paddock at the national trusts property of stourhead, the water is run by the gillinghamand district AC,day tickets are a fiver from Mere post office. It is awsome in its athsetic charm it has a waterfall and a now derelict waterwheel, best bags are of bream and Tench from the dam end of the lake.

heres a vid i made there:

and heres the map:

hope this helps, there are a few more but i aint tellin!
I thought the fishery at Nunney catch roundabout was closed? I'd also heard it contained Catfish. I'd also heard that Edneys hat some cats. Can anyone confirm this? Stourhead looks interesting....

The pub opposite the railway pub w3ith the sailing club is run by the Eden Vale club. The big lake (Frogmore lake) down slag lane is run as a season ticket only water. Very expensive & far too many rules. I's a pity as it used to be a great water. The next lake is called the Carp pond & is run by the School of Infantry angling club. Nice little water with fairly cheap season tickets. Theres also another lake on the other side of the railway by the sewage works called Painters pool which I believe is rented by a syndicate...

Re: Local lakes (wiltshire ish area)

The carp pond is quite a nice little lake with some good tench, carp & pike. It used to hold several double figure bream, which I don't believe ever bred. They have probably all died of old age by now. I think it's less than £20 a year to fish & no day tickets are available. I was not aware of another lake behind the station minehole lake, unless you mean the one at Penleigh.
