Re: maggot breeding I have bred maggots at home in the past . You don't get a heck of a lot. It smells a lot. No really a hell of a lot. You don't get huge quantity either and caster turning goes through a few maggots. I'd probably not hang a rabbit off the side of shed, probably better to get some kind of container. Cut a small hole in a lid and leave it out in shade till it gets blown then wrap tightly in old newspaper. Give it about five days and the rabbit will be mostly replaced with maggots but it'll stick like hell. I appreciate that it's not easy when the money is tight so either consider worms or go for it anyway. Whatever happens I hope you can keep married and fishing, all the best. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: maggot breeding see this link about breeding your own maggots I have an old book that recommends putting your meat (once it has a few blows of eggs in it) under the ground in a buiscuit tin with some sand in the bottom and a small hole reaching the surface for air. This keeps the stench down it says. Good luck. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)

Re: maggot breeding firstly i wouldnt hang it from the shed as the decaying carcass releases protiens that will stain the wood and you wont get the stench out ever!!!! what i would do is bet some castor and wait for them to pupate into fly get a plastic bin with some large mesh half way down and place liver or heart on this add the fly put the lid on and give it two days for the fly to lay eggs if you warm the bin up the whole process will speed up and you should get maggot in 4 to 5 days but dont warm it to much or you will cook the fly and the maggot happy breeding.
