Feeder rods

Can a feeder rod be used without the quiver tip fitted?

Want to setup my spare feeder rod without the quiver tip fitted so i can do serface fishing. Then i dont have to keep swaping setups on my float rod.

Re: Feeder rods

I suppose so, but I think there is a good chance that the socket end, where there is no tip ring could get tangled, and if you did not know it at the time, could get wrapped up, and a strike could result in a big fish lost and a brocken rod. I saw someone break a rod that way on the Wye many years ago. Proceed with caution.
Why not try to pick up a cheap extra rod at a car boot?
Its worth the extra time to re-rig, than the heartbreak of a broken rod.
