Putting line on a new reel

Hi,

as the title suggests is this easy for a begginer, and what line would i be best buying at the moment i'm on hook bait for roach catching the odd small carp, I would like to try and use a closed feeder.

i would use 4 lb line and then use hook link of 2lb or 6 and 4
