| Pond fishing tips? Hi all, Just started fishing again after many years away from the sport. Used to do a lot of sea fishing but getting into coarse fishing now. Plan on fishing a few ponds in the north scotland area but am unsure of: a. How to fish it? (off the bottom?) b. What size hooks to use? c. What type of floats to use (its usually quite windy but well protected) Ponds are only small and fish in them are rarely seen above 5 or 6 lb tops, usually up to 1 or 2 lb in the main. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks, Karl |

| Re: Pond fishing tips? Do over people fish the water ? If so have a walk one weekend and see what the other anglers are doing to catch the fish . Most anglers are more than willing to help. If pond is not well fished you might want to spand a few evenings just sitting there and watching the water this way you will find out were the most fish activity is and how the wind affects the water. Also if not fished much spend a couple of days pre baiting a swim before youre going to fish it can work really well. Half the fun of fishing a new water is trying to crack it So good luck and let us know how you got on mate __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

| Re: Pond fishing tips? I would start off fishing over depth if it's windy. Size 16 hook then 6in of line then the bulk of your shot then from the shot to your float(held on with 2small shot) should be about 6in longer than the depth of your swim. The deeper your swim the heavier the float you need. I use about a 3/4bb float in up to 4ft and about a 2.5aaa float in 5ft. If the wind is strong you may need the heavier float to help you cast. Cast out then when your float settles sink your line and wind in till your float cocks/semi cocks. Now the float will either stand up and lay flat or go under as normal when you get a bite. This is just one way to get you started, sorry if I'm tell you what you already know. Happy fishing. |
