Re: braid line

welcome and yes you can is the answer. it works well and casts well, although in wind as it is so light can sometimes make small "wind knots"
you will need to back the reel unless you are loaded with cash as braid more expensive
but once using it you'll love the feel of the fight

Cool Re: braid line

Hi Jass,

Welcome to the Forum

I agree with Pingu... you can use braid.... in fact most Carp, Pike and Saltwater anglers use it... so they all can't be wrong!

Saltwater spinning for Bass..... then braid is very useful as you will feel" every twist and turn of the fish when hooked, and when fishing, the contours of the bottom, every little bump.

If you want to buy some to try out look at Braid Direct on this forum as its excellent value for money and excellent quality.

I hope this helps

Re: braid line

Yes, smoothie is right, braid line is great for spinning or bass, pike and everything else as you can feel every twitch, pull and knock.

And welcome to the forum

Re: braid line

Caught lots of large mouth bass in USA using braid for spinning and plastic worm fishing.
Great stuff you'll cast farther and get more feel on the line. BUT be pre prepared to give a bit of line or use spring in rod when a fish lunges as there is no stretch in the line. Also we found it better if you use about 3 foot of 'Vanish' or similar flourocarbon as a leader - definitely more fish.

Cheers --a fluff chucker.

Talking Re: braid line

Having spent the last 7 years almost exclusively lure fishing I can't rate braid highly enough. I changed over to it within the first 3 months and have never used mono since. My favourite method is ultralite, ie. 0.25-7.0gm lures & spinners. To launch these,I use a custom built, 5'3" rod of my own design coupled with a Daiwa 2500ia reel. This is usually loaded with 6lb Berkley Fireline. Don't be fooled into thinking that this is a small fish set up, I've taken pike to 18lb, carp to 36lb, perch to 4.5lb, chub to 6.5lb and some absolutely enormous gudgeon, and all on lures.
I also throw jerkbaits up to 120gm, though these do need a slightly heavier outfit.
Whoever told you that you can't use braid for spinning obviously never tried it, and have no idea what they are talking about, just ask any dedicated lure angler.
