Hey guys/ opinions required,

Hey,

Im currently a media student, and as part of my final project i was required to produce a media product aimed at a specific community, for me, naturally i chose the fiishing community.

My local is the wensum, and well i quite love it. and as much as i love fishing i love the wildlife surrounding it.

What i ask, is opinions of the posters i have come up with, criticsm, and advice on how they could be improved. These are all to be put around local tackl shops in Norwich, and surrounding areas

I really would appreciate anything you have to say about any of these.

Thank you

Re: Hey guys/ opinions required,

Hi
My opinion is that No 1 is hte best.
The other two point thr finger of blame at angklers, whilst there is some accidental loss of tackle, combined with idiotic loss or even behavior which causes tackle to get left in the water, such a sline dumping. Much of the litter I have found is food or drink related. So unless you want the impression of the poster to be that anglers are only to blame, go for no 1.

Re: Hey guys/ opinions required,

I would have to agree with fullcreel unless you are deliberately targeting anglers on this stretch then go for No 2

Re: Hey guys/ opinions required,

I would go for no1 as well, the problem is that you have shown floats in the others and most of the time floats are not rubbish but lost tackle, which 90% of fisherman don't like to do. so showing that as media picture, just shows some ones poor luck in loosing their tackle. I think one does show the problem with rubbish. as a club chairman its been my biggest nightmare trying to keep the rubbish down. good luck with the media studies.

Regards, Steve

Re: Hey guys/ opinions required,

I'd agree with the general vote here and say number 1 is the best, all though I'd also say your picture is too close in. all though you can see water my first thought was it looked like a pavement. I personally think you need a very distinctive picture with a tree line - margins or something of the like, and also more litter to really send a take home message i.e. kind of over the top littering.

eg http://www.lonelyplanet.com/blogs/tr...ish-719667.jpg

sorry if thats too much, just a bit of constructive cirticism.

Re: Hey guys/ opinions required,

Having worked as a photo journalist for a bit I will add my tuppence worth. I have never done media studies, however if I had presented any of those pics to my editor she would have laughed in my face.
Picture one is terrible, my 8 year old daughter can do better than that. The photo is grey, boring and lifeless, I totaly agree with Zahrim, the pictures are bland at the best. Pictures 2 and 3 are no more than a bit of flotsam with an indistinct red and white blob in the middle that probably only anglers would recognise as a float. The caption "losing tackle costs lives" is melodramtic to say the least and totaly misplaced. No one goes out to deliberatly lose tackle! all it costs is money.

You could go at this in one of two ways:

1. If you are targeting anglers that just dump there rubbish at the riverside (and there are plenty) then use a pic with a swim full of coils of line and empty corn tins and some cans of beer. I do think those anglers should be shamed.

2. If you are targeting the general litter lout then go with loads of bottles and cans bobbing above a shopping trolley or ditched bike.

I know this is quite a harsh critisiscm but being a former journalist I was always taught to look at both sides of the story and provide an impartial view. I hope this helps.
