| The Canal at Enfield Lock today I set out this morning at around 8pm. It was very sunny but luckily no wind. I tackled up using a 12ft match rod with 7 pound line, attached a float and started with a hook link of around a pound. From advice from a local tackle shop my bait was pinkies and other mixed maggots. I started to fish about 100 yds from the bridge and moved around 10.30 to under the bridge as nothing was showing. I stayed there until around 12.30 and still not even a hint of a fish. The balliff arrived and I took his advice and moved even further down. My main tactics throughout the day was to put 2 maggots on the hook and feed the swim with the same maggots at about half a dozen at a time.... every so often. Still nothing. The water was quite muggy but I did manage to see a couple of very nice carp swimming past, very close to the bank (i'll have a go at them another time). I moved again at around 3pm and stayed there till dark. Not even a hint of a fish all day. However, blanking never really bothers me. After a long week at work its nice to go fishing again. Kind regards, Fitz ![]() |
