Allcock Match Aerial Reel recovered from shed

I've cleaned up an Allcock's match aerial reg no.365019 that my father-in-law donated when I took up fishing again with his granddaughter. It had been sat in my shed for a couple of years before I realised it was a beautiful piece of machinery. We've cleaned it, lubricated it with the correct oil and grease and it now spins beautifuuly. Unfortunateley, it is missing the drag knob click on/off clicker. Does anyone know where I can buy one of these? It's black, plastic and round with three spokes like a mercedes logo, according to other pictures on the net.
I intend to use this reel for trotting, maybe even as a fly reel until I find an appropriate old Hardy to match my rod (see other posts) as the good working order hardy Golden Prince I bought on eveilBay wasn't in as GWO as I'd been led to believe and has gone back. And the season has started on my local reservoir.
Any vintage reel bits supplier details or suggestions are welcome. The six sided nut that is left is too sharp to turn by hand.
thank you,
Courty

Re: Allcock Match Aerial Reel recovered from shed

There's a fair few vintage tackle collectors who advertise in Trout & Salmon magazine. Maybe one of those can help you. As a tempory measure, would a small nut or bolt fit?

Thank you for the suggestions. By an amazing coincidence, an identical reel just sold on ebay for £185 and it was also missing the ratchet knob. The seller stated that Gary Mills of the Tackle Mill Co could provide a replacement, so I've sent them an email.

Re: Allcock Match Aerial Reel recovered from shed

Gary Mills replied that the old nut needed to be drilled out and a replacement part fitted. Cost would be somewhere around the £35 mark before postage, so it can be fixed.
I moved into fly fishing, so I didn't do anything with it. Father in law is now ex-father in law, so not sure on the status of my ownership of the reel!!!!
How time changes things. It's still a beautiful reel though, and my finances at the mo suggest that the reel won't be mended anytime soon.
So far this season I haven't bought a single item of fishing gear, other than licence and membership.
Funnily enough, now that I've focused on what I'm doing with what I've got, rather than buying things to make me better, my fishing is improving at an exciting rate!
