Cool fishing at milemead fishery in tavistock

i am making a new thread to help people with tactics at milemead fishery. any other help or advise is greatly apreceated.

the carp lake has 35 swims and is well stoked with many species(including ghost common and mirror) to 15lb

roach can get to 2lb 4oz as i have seen and weighed it myself.
rudd, perch and many more species are present.

all waggler and feeder and leger meathods work well and floating bait is a killer in the somer months.

the match lake has carp ranging between 4-8lb and some desent roach rudd and perch.

the specemin lake i have not heard alot about so if anyone could fill me in that would be very helpful.

they also have a mini canal which is great for begginers to expierienced anglers. great fun fishing with roach rudd small carp and apparently some small golden orfe ????????
all you need is to have a pint of maggots which is availiable from the tackle shop on-site. the tackle shop has all the baits that u need and nearly anything that you need to fish at milemead including floats wagglers and pole.

Re: fishing at milemead fishery in tavistock

I have only been coarse fishing since August this year, and have so far only been to Milemead, about 8 or 9 times, and enjoyed it immensely, having had carp up to 12lb in the carp lake. The staff are very friendly, with a good tackle shop (which stocks pot noodles too, cant be bad, ha ha) and centrally located toilets, and carpark. Quite a few families go up there or dads with sons/daughters (as I do) and it makes for a very enjoyable day. Rod/reel/float hire is £5 per day, plus they usually give u a free tub of maggots, plus a landing net too. I did hire some gear initially to see if I liked coarse fishing, and after 2 visits promptly sold most of my sea angling gear, and bought some carp and match rods, and havent looked back since. Lakes are very nice and scenic too, particlularly the match lake.
