| Spinner fishing for chub I am going spinner fishing for chub in a river where there could be big pike aswell. What sort of lure should I use ( i was thinking a small mepps) also what strength line would I need? Any help will be appreciated? |

| Re: Spinner fishing for chub Its not so much the strength of line but you will need a wire trace if there is the chance of a pike there razor sharp with cut through your line |

| Re: Spinner fishing for chub Hi I am not a chub expert due to there non existence in Northern Ireland, but i have caught them in England on the River Thames whilst on holiday, I caught them on small deep bodied plugs fished close to features, such as sunken trees and under-cut banks. As Lman said you should us a wire trace as the pike's teeth would not be long of cutting though the mono. | Re: Spinner fishing for chub I recall an article in Coarse Fisherman, quite a few years ago, re summer chub on a plug. Small diving ones worked well, as others have said use a trace and work them close to features. Good luck. |
