Rock salt and its effects I'm sure that all the of road salt that is being dumped on the roads, is not going to be great for fishing. Does anyone what the effects will be?

Re: Rock salt and its effects Usually not good but typically only has short term effects. Currently most rivers are low and clear and any run-off via drain outfalls should be quite limited (lack of rain means the crap will find its way into the rivers gradually and in fairly small quantities). Heavy rain/snow following a freeze will see a higher concentration of crap flow into the rivers but the effect should be relatively short lived as the rivers flood and hopefully empty pretty quickly. Prolonged cold spells can make for really good fishing, particularly for chub. They tend to come out on to the shallower stretches during late afternoon and early evening when trotting with loose fed maggot can be very productive (works on the Stour and Avon). __________________ "I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order" Eric Morcambe

Re: Rock salt and its effects Was chatting to a customer at work today, about the effects of salt on our rivers, he told me that our salt is way better than that used in eyurope, which does some serious harm, ours is through the system pretty quick. A relief
