Thumbs up fishing for perch

When you are fshing for perch should i put no weights on just a few shots just under the float and the use a worm for bait and let it slowly float down.

Or

Should i see how deap it is and make it go straight to the bottom by putting more weights on spread out down the line.

Re: fishing for perch

Sorry to sit on the fence...but perch have big mouths and may take the worm deep, so a shot to act as an indicator is a wise move, in saying that it should not be too heavy.
Are you fishing a river or still water?
PLay about with depth and shotting, sometimes perch will snap at a bait thats passing them on its way down to the bottom. If poss find out how deep the food is, prey fish normally.
Can be a wise idea to get them going as this should get the perch interested.
Try a half worm, as ther juices will get into the water and bring the perch in
Good luck.
Always experiment

Re: fishing for perch

I tend to get more in my local canal when fishing with little weight or even none and giving the line the odd twitch.

Thumbs up Re: fishing for perch

I under stand what you are saying so will do different depths.

am fishing on still water and then pond is about 20 meters by 25 meters but there is only a small bit on the pond about 10 meters by 15 meters and its just next to and tree thats goes in the water and it is full off perch becasue there are only small fish.

so if you go to deep the fish takes you in the bushes so you have too watch out and not go too deep

thanx for the info
