Re: Fishing season?

i think i should explain things more lee,20 or 30 years ago we had the close season from march to june,i think it was mainly to give the fish freedom to spawn in the spring,
during this time virtually no coarse fishing was possible,
since then, stillwaters have become separate from rivers, you can fish most stillwaters all year round,(there are still some exceptions),but there is still a closed season on rivers from march to june.

Re: Fishing season?

I believe it Was also introduced to allow other wildlife to breed - swans, ducks and smaller waterside animules (diliberate mistake, I like the sound of it). It also keeps fishermen from the river during lambing season and it's when crops are sewn and all that environmentaly countrysidey kinda stuff. I wouldn't know about that though because according to downsouth I'm a grockle (not sure of the spelling (or meaning actually)). Which brings me back to 'animule':

If a 'chav' is now recognised as a 'chav' because 'chav' is now in the dictionary don't you know!? and if then grockle (or however you spell it) is a word, then who do I get in touch with to get 'animule' made into a real word?

answers on a postcard please

Re: Fishing season?

whats the definition of animule??
another reason for the closed season is for the wardens etc.. to clean up the river n clear out weed n stuff, clearing the banks as well
i know where i went on work expo they cut all the weed in the river once every 3 months but during the closed season the cut it more harsly (i think)
make it more angler friendly
