| CRAYFISH IN ENFIELD Middlesex Hi Guys, Need some info on trapping crayfish in Enfield EN3 - I would like to catch them locally but I am having trouble getting any useful info on where to find them, I have been pushed from pillar to post by the EA, Enfield local council and the river warden. It would be appreciated if anyone can introduce me to a trapper in Enfield or surrounding areas or know of anyone that can help in getting me started. Any info would be appreciated. tMike |

| Re: CRAYFISH IN ENFIELD Middlesex Not too sure about where to catch Crayfish around Enfield. Lots of people selling traps on Ebay. I picked up three for a fiver. Baitwise, i've found that a couple of slices of really smelly Salami or Garlic sausage work well. Squid & Mussel boilies also worked. Good luck. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

Because of watching river cottage on cable I was under the impression that only chicken scraps would work and was building up a stock in the freezer which pi**ed off my other half, but after your input and others regarding cat food I've made her day and told her to bin the lot. Thanks for the info, tMike |

| Re: CRAYFISH IN ENFIELD Middlesex The Ba******* are everywhere, well nearly. A bit of trial and error but most rivers will have them. I would suggest a bit stealthyness, and brush up on the finer arts of creeping around, as getting caught could be a problem. |

That’s what I am worried about, is getting caught, I haven’t got two and a half grand to throw away - I am at present awaiting for a local EA warden to send me a list of river owners so I can write and ask permission to trap but this warden seem to have lost his mobile when I call - they are really making staying legal a hard task. tMike |

| Re: CRAYFISH IN ENFIELD Middlesex Hi tmike, I live in Enfield as well, and would like to trap crayfish. I was hoping it would be possible to get permission/license to trap crayfish in the river lee, but looks like its not going to be possible. ![]() |

| Re: CRAYFISH IN ENFIELD Middlesex Hi Jonny, I tried to get permission to trap on the Lea as well but was given the run-around by the wardens - It seems that they have otters moved into the river in Enfield and they don't want to have them disturbed by trappers. I managed to get a licence to trap in St. Albans for a year but am waiting for the weather to warm up before I go out again. If U can get permission from a lake/river or pit owner to trap then U can apply for a licence from the EA - Once I got permission from the fishing club to trap on their swims I applied for a licence and got a ten trap licence within three weeks. If I can be of any help please drop me a line at handymanservices@handymike.net Good luck Mike |
