Re: Novice angler in need of advice

the asnwer is probably no im afraid
depends what sorta rod you already have but i would say no
fresh water rods are desinged for there purpose, you can pick them up quite cheap and you will have alot more fun using 1 that if you were to use your sea rod on the sorta fish you gonna be catching

Welcome to the fishing forum

Sorry ben is right your sea gear will not be any good for freshwater fishing . This is because freshwater fishing is a lot more lighter than sea fishing

But kit is cheap new or second hand

What type of freshwater fishing are you interested in

i.e
lake / river ect
match fishing
carp fishing

Just so we know and maybe be able to help you

Please feel free to ask any questions you like as there are loads of great people who will help and who knows you could help them

Re: Novice angler in need of advice

if you go to a reputable tackle dealer lee(i'm sure there is a forum member in your area can point you in the right direction),you will be able to get advice on exactly the right rod without spending too much, i think you can get a nice sort of float rod for about £20.

Also an idea is if you have an hour to spare is to go to a water and just sit and watch anglers fish

Just be polite and say hi Im just beginning fishing and look and learn ( go with soneone else is recommended just incase )

Join a local fishing club - load of fun plus you will learn in bucket loads mate
