Have tried searching but can not find anything. I am very lucky to have a wife who's parents own a fishing lake of about 3 acre's. The lake has not been used for the last 20 years. A farmer pop's in a few times a year to cut the grass. I have walked around the lake many times and spotted a number of Carp. My problem is that the banks are high and steap from the waters edge, about 140cm (1.4M). Has anybody seen, got any plans / designs, know-how for building a platform over water? Any help would be greatly welcomed. Thanks, Luke

Re: Fishing Platform There is a 30cm (or so) ledge which is about 20cm under the water. I am not sure how stable the ledge is. I have done a drawing but I can not work out how to add it to the post? I did think that digging down would be the best idea, but the tractor needs to get down the path to cut the grass and if I put a dig out there it will not be able too. I think a wooden platform on stilts which sits in the water, flush with the bank is the way forward. Order what of what need to be done (I think): Drain the lake (is possible the father in law has said) Dig hole's for the frame. Cement 6x4 in the holes (Pressure treated) Attach cross frames Walking boards onto of the cross frame (can use chicken wire so people don't slip in the wet) ![]() ![]() ![]() I think that is it in a very ruff nut shell. However am well aware that it is not going to be that easy. If any one has done this sort of thing before and can give any tips feel free to fire them in. Thanks L

Re: Fishing Platform I have seen Post pallets used for platforms were they turned them up-side down and drove the legs into the ground. with four legs in the ground they seem to stay there. __________________ Born to fish made to work

Re: Fishing Platform Like your idea Steve. Just Google imaged them, have never seen them before. I was thinking last night of using scaffold poles. Plan is to knock up some sketches this weekend to show the Father in Law how it would look. I'll keep you posted on development.

Re: Fishing Platform The old man is happy. We are going to drain the lake in the summer and build a platform. Will also take a stock of the fish and move them into the little pond next door (then empty that once the big one is filled up

Re: Fishing Platform himate if you just built a platform on the bank and had the end sticking out over the water this way you wouldnt have to drain the lake or you could make a floating platform like a pontoon anchored to the bank

Re: Fishing Platform Draining the lake seems a little bit extreme? Just build the platforms on the bank using posts or scaffold bars for the legs and driving them well into the ground set into concrete. Scaffold bars are handy as you can also use the clips and boards to construct a full and sturdy platform. Sure a scaffold company would do it for you to ensure it is safe. If it is just you fishing the lake, why not just buy a portable platform, like the matchmen use then you can fish from anywhere you like and it would save you the hassle of building a perminant structure.
