Which Rod?? Hi, After being away from fishing for some years i have decided to return to the sport now that i have some spare time and a youngster who has expressed an interest in it. I am amazed at the range of tackle available now and after much searching decided to purchase a shimano alivio rod and exage 4000ra reel for float fishing, however the rules have changed at my local lake fishery stating that minimum line strength should be 4lb in the coarse lake and 8lb in the carp lake. While my rod will be suitable for the coarse lake it says it is only rated to 7lb line.....is this right?? I thought about purchasing the exage 2500ra reel and using it in the coarse lake with the alivio rod and then using the exage 4000ra reel in the carp lake. Can anyone recommend a rod for the carp lake with the exage 4000ra reel to take 8lb plus line, i would like to have a go at legering maybe in this lake! I would be thankful for any advice ![]()

Re: Which Rod?? Hi Gripper, Am no expert but, I would go for the WARRIOR ES by Fox. You can get it new for about £50. Have seen on ebay for £30. It is a nice light rod and if you go for the 2.7lb, ledgering also with a pva bag will be perfect. ![]() http://www.total-fishing-tackle.com/...roducts_id=478

Re: Which Rod?? Thanks for that, i have read numerous threads on feeder rods and one that keeps coming up is the shimano hyperloop BX 12ft medium feeder rod. Anyone had experience of this one, has had good reviews and at a good price too! ![]()

Re: Which Rod?? Hiya Gripper, for fish that are going up 20lb in weight, you may want to think about a heavy feeder rod, or a barbel rod if you dont want a carp rod. if you are going for the feeder rod i would recommend a rod that has tips that go up to 4ozs, if you are thinking about a barbell rod then something in the 2lb test curve range, Hyperloops are a great rod, i have both the Avon/barbell rods and the Carp rods, and have land fish up to 41lb on the carp rods and carp up to 12lb on the barbell rods, i think that the medium feeder may struggle with the bigger carp but if you take your time and play the fish you should be fine. Hope this helps Steve __________________ Born to fish made to work

Re: Which Rod?? agree with steve on this one a good heavy feeder rod would be perfect for the job and should provide some fun with the med sized fish. Too many people go after these fish with the heavy tackel wheres the sport in winching out these smaller sized carp
