Tidal Rivers? The club I'm a member of give me access to three rivers, one is non tidal but the others are tidal. I've fished non tidal rivers a number of times but mostly fish lakes and have never fished a tidal river. Is there anything I need to know? I seem to remember reading somewhere that fish tended not to feed at one end of the tide but I can't remember which end or even if that is true. Also, at the risk of sounding incredibly dumb, but how do you find out tide times anyway, I mean obviously the tide, as in the sea, will come in at a certain time but I'd imagine that you wouldn't notice the difference if you were say 20 miles inland until x time later, so how can you work out what time the tide will be high for the particular part of the river you are on? Cheers. __________________ I've now added a fishing blog to my website Here

Re: Tidal Rivers? stick easytide into google & you can get free tide projections for 7 days in future. A local tackle shop should be able to point you in the right direction for the rest. I fished the medway as a boy (think it was Maidstone, or at least started with a M), I just remember it being a little confusing, but still manged to cath some fish on the waggler. Good luck ![]() __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>

Re: Tidal Rivers? I'm no expert on tidal rivers but I have fished the Broads a few times and reckon the best fishing is to be had at high tide slackwater (when the tide's on the turn) especially when this coincides with dusk. Good luck

I had some fantastic sessions on the Tidal Kentish Stour at Grove Ferry many years ago. Had some massive bags of Roach & Bream. Fishing tidal water can be tricky though as the banks tend to be very muddy & you need to keep adjusting your float depth to allow for the tide. Good luck... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey...
