Red line ?? I have recently aquired some red monofilament line which came free with a popular fishing paper who claim that as it is red fish cant see it , i have also been told recently to attach a bit of red wool to my spinners when fishing for perch as they cant resist it , can anybody shed some light on this subject ?

Re: Red line ?? At increasing depths from the surface light fades, red light is the first to be filtered out so at depth your red line will appear black or green. Nearer the surface red is a trigger colour to many predators. Hope that helps Robert __________________ Two ears and one mouth......striving to use them in that proportion

Re: Red line ?? Fishingpig, as I understand it, the fish may not see the red as depth increases, but they still see the line by it's shape. Which will now be black or green. Your choice is then between fluorocarbon line, which is supposed to be more invisible to fish due to it's make-up (refractive index of light, would you believe it?), or hi-tec line, which is much thinner than normal line whilst retaining it's strength. Both are more expensive than normal monofilament line. I'm still on trial with this choice, and I can't tell you which is best because since I've experimented, the weather changes have been the most significant factors on my fishing recently. Is a line less obtrusive because it is chemically more invisible, or because it is thinner? That's the beauty of fishing! Trial, error, and what you are prepared to do (or spend). And if a magazine has given away the best kept secret in the fishing world, then someone somewhere is getting the right idea. Don't use that line in a field with bulls in it.Good luck! Courty
