Re: getting started

I'd recomend going to your local tackle shop and asking for a set up. That way he should be able to knock some money off if you buy yourself Rod/Reel/Net's etc.

I'd set myself a budget first of how much you want to spend alltogether. Pressuming you go fishing by yourself (and not with anyone who already has gear) I'd get myself a rod, reel, a few bait boxes, hook disgorger, landing net, some line. If you look through some catalogues you should be able to find a tackle box with most of that included for a few quid. I would imagine that a decent enough set up wouldn't cost you anymore than £20-£30, but I could be wrong.

you can get fishing licenses for a day, 2 week, a month and the entire season. If you're planning to fish for a few days then I'd recomend getting a 2 week one. They're not that expensive, a day license is about £3.50 I think. HOwever, various lakes and rivers will charge you to use them, but again that shouldn't be a huge amount.

I'm sure some other members will provide some better help

You can buy them online or at your local Post Office.

That link that Drew kindly provided should give you some extra details
