Re: Need advice for Crockerton Hiya, i find the best way to fish the pole at Crockerton is fish pegs 2-7 or 14 - 20, you dont need to fish that far out no more than 8-9mtrs, i wouldn't use groundbait, i use a bait dropper to put the bait out or cup out the bait, this time of year i would be looking at useing maggot and pellet and would take some small cubes of meat just incase they come on the feed, its worth keeping the bait on the deck but don't be affraid to try the all the layers of water as well. nice to see you on the Forum and welcome. __________________ Born to fish made to work

Re: Need advice for Crockerton I've had some greatsessions there this year, usung bacon grill and bread flake. Fishing of the ends of the trees, its a water that does not need much loose feed. I use the 2-3mil halibut pellets and only a couple of hook bait samples. Try off the tree tips on the far bank, or on pegs 4, 5, 6, 7. Peg 8 is fun, but you need animal tackle for it. In good hot summer conditions, the top swims can produce well on corn and meet. Avoid maggies 'cept in the winter as therer are plenty of small silvers to wind you up. There are also some massive perch in there, but they are are autumn and winter targets, try half a lob worm. Good Luck. We should have a forum meet there???

I think Steve & Fullcreel have pretty much covered it. Make sure you use strong pole elastic. If you fish under the trees YOU WILL hit into a large Carp sooner rather than later. (Average 6-15lbs) or a hardfighting tench. The fish are not really hookshy. I often fish 6lb hooklength & a strong size 16-14 hook even for the roach. Small cubes of meat (1cm or smaller) work well for me, although I believe sweetcorn works well late summer / autumn. Keep a steady trickle of loosefeed going in, but no groundbait. Fish high in the water for some very good roach which take on the drop. Plenty of good bream too. Tight lines.... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey...
