Agreements Between Angling Clubs

Chaps, I live in Northampton and am looking at joining an angling club to save shelling out in day tickets. The best one in my area is the Northampton Nene Angling Club and costs £33 for a years membership. I noticed that members of this club are allowed to fish waters owned by the North Oxford Angling Club/Socierty and vice versa. Checking out the website/info on this Oxford club has said that if you become a member you can fish on waters owned by the MK Angling Association as well as ones owned by the Northampton Nene Angling Club. Seeing as membership of the Oxford club is only £20 would it be morally wrong to join it then make the most of the agreement to fish in my local waters in northampton? Seems morally wrong to me but I thought I`d ask what everyone else thinks?
Cheers

Re: Agreements Between Angling Clubs

As a member of my local club, we have only two lakes, but what we do have is the exchange tickets with other clubs, so we get to fish other waters, like you said with the two clubs. However, by joining your local club it will increase the clubs membership and if more people support the local club, there is less chance of the club folding. It's ok to join the other club, but the sake of a few quid!!! how much are you spending on day tickets and joining the local must out weigh that!

I agree and it does seem wrong to join a non-local club to make the most of more fishing opportunities but it seems such a tempting idea to join the North Oxford Angling Club for £20 and still be able to fish in Northants waters where I live AND also Mk AA`s waters too which is where I work. I`ll try and reach someone from the Northants Nene Club and see if I can join.
Cheers for replying tho, much appreciated.

Mind you, you would save thirteen quid ..... However I think I agree with Bananna Steve.

Cheers, I think I know deep down that whilst being extremely tempting to pay £13 less AND be able to fish locally in Northants as well as MK (where I work) its morally wrong so I`ll do the decent thing. I hope I go to heaven for this! :)

Re: Agreements Between Angling Clubs

Sometimes you need an actual exchange ticket, quite often you need to collect this on the day, then return it, so you an't just fish on a whim. For example if I want to fish the River Nadder, which is on a Tisbury ticket, I need to collect the exchange book on the morning, and return it that eve, (OK its returned via the tackle shops letter box, way after closing time).

So its not as simple as showing a bailiff from the other angling club your membership card then?
