Re: Warning-Beware ticks!!

Man, I Never Knew Fishing Could be so dangerous.

Where do we get the jab from, and how do we know if we've been bitten?

:S

Regards,
Rob

Ask your GP - (you may have to pay for the jab)

LOL - with the ticks we've encountered in tropical climes - you will know alright!

However, some of the ticks you get in the UK are quite small, so at the end of the day's fishing in tick country (or once every 24 hours if you are on a long session) strip off, and have a "tick inspection" with tweezers at the ready.

You may need a partner to examine unreachable (and unmentionable !) places - but that comes under the heading of "consenting adults in private" so I will say no more...

....and read the post by FuerteStuart again (and my comments on it) - its very important to get that tick out as soon as you find it.

Re: Warning-Beware ticks!!

For a couple of quid, most vets sell a tick removing tweezer thing. Always worth carrying one in your kit back.
Spraying ankles with a strong insect replelantmay work. They may not be 'insects', but it might work. Also I find eating lots of garlic reduces mossie attentions, so extra garlic may help to deter ticks.
If you think you've been bitten, give your gp's surgery a call.

The first priority is to get the tick out yourself - pronto - THEN if you think the tick may have "injected" you before you got it out, consult your GP.
