A few beginners questions/ help please

cheers to all who replied to my post, sorry took so long to repost moved and now back on the net .

Since my first post broke my first 12 ft rod and bought a cheap 12ft feeder rod. been using that to foat fish mostley on the clyde canal and happy to report caught a fair few fish all small but i dont really mind. I will be taking your tips into consideration
and Liverpool crew Ill look that book up as I continue my education on fishing.
