Hi JHock, i used to fish there quite alot years ago, but they had a disease in the lake that wipped out alot of the crucians and tench, i hear that the lake is slowly getting back to its old self. the avarage stamp of Carp is around 4lb, however that was a couple of years ago, the lakes are quite weedy and they are very shallow, hope this helps regads, Steve __________________ "The muscles of 20 men, and the brains of 20 mussels",

Re: Witham Friary Lakes I went for a wander around the top lake last summer, there is a huge mass of weed, (lillies etc) in the middle, to which the regulars were casting to, they said it was real hit and hold tactics. We did not see anything of any size, but if there are nice crucians in therer its bound to worth a trip. There is a lower lake, which seemed to have less weed in it, looked fun, they looked a little shallow, but obvious signs of being fished, so bound to worth ago. good luck

Re: Witham Friary Lakes Thanks guys, will have to give it a try. Was over at Edneys in Frome today. The lakes are OK but could do with some work. There was a quite a bit of rubbish on the banks, why do people have to leave rubbish, the owner provides bins and people ignore them, winds me right up! There are some lakes next to Edneys, does any one know anything about these?
