| Pellet Advice? The other weekend I used trout pellets and caught my very first fish using this bait, a 2.5lb Tench. I was getting LOADS of bites but just couldn't connect to them and suspect that hooksize may have been an issue. When using 8mm pellets and bait bands, what size hook would be best to use? I was using a size 14 hook but despite my best efforts there were times when the shank of the hook would fold over so that the side of the hook was now against the pellet instead of the back of the hook. I don't want to use too big a hook which would spook the fish which can be somewhat shy biters but at the same time a hook that is too small for the bait will have problems being set on the strike. __________________ I've now added a fishing blog to my website Here |

| Re: Pellet Advice? try a size 12 mate it never fail me i think its just the right size for an 8mm pellet and try putting about 10mm ball size pellet paste over the ya hook bait and then watch them roam in on ya bait works great for me have a go and see ![]() |
