gripped by the darkside!

arfter my foray in thailand and a few nice cats on light tackle and a long break from course fishing, ive relised that sea shore fishing is actualy crap! the enviroment down my way is rubbish
featureless stretches of shingle, usualy lite by street lights from a road to the rear, fish a harbour and its strewn with rubbish and a lovely stink of chavs (or other anglers) p*ss! anglers treating fish like peices of meat
as apose to a living creature weather they ar gana eat it or not,
they seem to be on the most part realy up ther own arse or nuckle dragging meat heads (tho i do ocasionaly fish with one or 2 that have half a brain,
god bless ya smutthuter, pingu gully ect oh and all the lads at 2006 smutt meet)
just had it with cranking fish in on 20lb line (i swear most sea anglers have never actualy played a fish)
so im gana blow 1000 quid on all the flashy carpy mod cons i used to hate lol!
find my self a nice local syndicate, bivvy up. listen to the birds, hopfully catch a few fish, crack a beer, roll a fat one and escape!

just got bored and thoght id type somthing ;-]

OH MY GOD..Geffsky, are you sure you feeling well?

Did someone poisoned you dinner in Thailand or gave you a brain wash?

Joke aside good luck on the darkside

What about last year's local fishing then ?

Goring / Ferring - were hundreds of smoothounds caught from the beach , a very good number going 15lb + .

Goring / Ferring / Climping - were odd stingrays caught, biggest landed was 25lb.

Worthing Pier - again plenty of smoothounds, the pier record was broken twice last year, good numbers of bass (had one of 11lb 9oz myself).

Shoreham to East Preston - one of the best years for ages for sizable codling , witnessed fish to 8lb 3oz, know other bigger ones caught locally.

West Sussex - one of the best years for golden grey mullet after their recent decline in the last few years . Also good number of tope caught from the beaches at certain spots ... got my biggest ever fish of 35lb 4oz which was the smallest one i see come up.

Doesnt sound too bad to me

Re: gripped by the darkside!

nope absolutly! that smoothy season was awsome down our way
and will be remembered for along time as the summer of the smoothys!
the reported shore record cought not 10mins walk from my house,
yep i will be back for the smoothys. but in general its crap
always up for some light fishing tho ill take sport werever i can get it
mate, whats getting me down is the fact that the majority of the year
you just crank in tiny fish on oversized gear! the only sport is
hitting the bite!
even a half decent bass is just "crank crank" ooh crank faster"
bingo fish at your feet! perhaps dont even hit the bite and let it tow
around a 4oz lead that will do it!
also just a point about that big smoothy run, nobody wore waders?
they just plopped the smut back in, a double figure hound needs to be
held in the water to get its self together and to power up again or it will go belly up! (ther pretty much baked arfter ther kick off fight) on diggy last year and mooching for spidercrab the sight of a double fig smutts wasted on the sand was not uncommon! sort of left me with a hollow feeling.
but yeah ill be back for the hounds when they turn up! and no doubt a few sessions for the float macky bass and wrasse (no doubt with a carp rod)
