Smile Metric? Imperial?... Who Cares!!!!

Went fishing today:
  • Filled up with 30 Litres of petrol
  • Drove about 25 Miles
  • Set up a 10 Metre pole
  • And a 12 Foot rod
  • Used 2ml pellets in a 20 gram feeder
  • Also used about 1kg of groundbait
  • And 1 Pint of maggots
  • Using 8lb line
  • Caught about a dozen carp up to 10lb
  • In approx 7 feet of water

European Union......No Chance.

God bless the Imperial Pound and long may it last! After all, I weigh hundreds and hundreds of them according to my bathroom scales!

Yes, and a good reason to sticking to that is that a pint is 0.568 litres -thats about six medium swallows (unless you have a mouth like this guy )

If ever we go metric in the pubs, the "equivalent" of a pint will be half a litre ie 0.5 litres, which is only about five swallows.

Bet we will still be charged the same price though. .

And long may it stay that way.

The Brewing Industry has a system all of it's own, a version of "Imperial" but based on "9".

Beer is delivered in a standard "Firkin" of 9 gallons or a "Kilderkin" of 18 gallons. Brewery capacity is measured in "Brewers Barrels" (1 barrel = 4 Firkins). God help anyone who tries to change the industry?

Unfortunately we do supply bottled beer in 500ml bottles although some do keep to the pint bottles (568ml).

... and when it's hot we measure the temperature in Fahrenheit, but when it's cold we measure it in Centigrade ... ;)
