| Re: Metric? Imperial?... Who Cares!!!! Yes, and a good reason to sticking to that is that a pint is 0.568 litres -thats about six medium swallows (unless you have a mouth like this guy If ever we go metric in the pubs, the "equivalent" of a pint will be half a litre ie 0.5 litres, which is only about five swallows. Bet we will still be charged the same price though. ![]() . __________________ RNLI Governor Nothing matters very much, few things matter at all - Plato ...only things like fresh bait and cold beer - Vagabond |

| Re: Metric? Imperial?... Who Cares!!!! And long may it stay that way. The Brewing Industry has a system all of it's own, a version of "Imperial" but based on "9". ![]() Beer is delivered in a standard "Firkin" of 9 gallons or a "Kilderkin" of 18 gallons. Brewery capacity is measured in "Brewers Barrels" (1 barrel = 4 Firkins). God help anyone who tries to change the industry? ![]() Unfortunately we do supply bottled beer in 500ml bottles although some do keep to the pint bottles (568ml). ![]() __________________ "I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order" Eric Morcambe |
